The Old Guard
Raymon T. Johnson, Charles R. McDowell, William H. Moreland, Clayton E. Williams, and Charles P. Light, Jr. were the law professors who came to be known as "The Old Guard". Though Moreland joined W&L in 1914 and Light taught until 1973, they served together as a group from 1927 until World War II dispersed them. A complete reunion at war's end was not possible as Moreland died in 1944. A classroom in Sydney Lewis Hall is dedicated in honor of "The Old Guard." | |||||
