James Lofton

Adjunct Professor of Law

B.A. with distinction 1976, Virginia Military Institute; J.D. 1982, University of Richmond; Atlantic Fellow in Public Policy, Cambridge University, 2001; Life Member, Clare Hall, Cambridge University; Fulbright Scholar, Bilkent University Faculty of Law, Ankara, Turkey, 2007

Biography

Prof. Lofton is a senior counsel in the Environmental Enforcement Section at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Lofton has been with the Justice Department for 19 years. His practice now concentrates primarily on enforcement cases under the Clean Air Act. In addition to teaching environmental law at W&L, Lofton regularly teaches trial advocacy at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, S.C. Lofton was a Fulbright scholar teaching environmental law and a course on Anglo-American law at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, in 2007, and was an Atlantic Fellow in Public Policy at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England, in 2000- 2001.
