Anglo-American Legal Tradition Project Launches Website

The Law Library at the University of Houston Law Center has announced the launch of the Anglo-American Legal Tradition website (AALT). AALT is the result of negotiations between the National Archives of the United Kingdom and Robert C. Palmer, Professor of Law and History at the University of Houston and permits the free, non-commercial display and use of images of the main categories of court records for almost four centuries (1272-1650). Prior to this website these documents were available only at the Archive itself. The website can be accessed at AALT.

Copyright Renewal Database

Stanford has unveiled a new searchable database that logs the status of "orphan works" (books that have exhausted their commercial life spans and have no apparent owners) published in the United States between 1923 and 1963. This database will be of great assistance to Librarians who want to digitize titles from their collections and need to know whether the works they’re scanning are, in fact, still under copyright. The database is available at Copyright Renewal Database.
