The courtroom renovation will include extensive modifications of the jury room and the judge's chambers. The air-handling system for this portion of Lewis Hall will also be replaced during this renovation.
The School of Law would like to acknowledge the generosity of the following alumni and friends:
Except for technology upgrades over the years, the moot courtroom has remained untouched since the completion of Lewis Hall in 1976, so changes to the area will be significant. After being completely gutted, the space will be reoriented away from its current circular design to hold 72 classroom-style seats. These seats will be surrounded by 66 additional auditorium seats, bringing the total capacity to 150, including the jury seating. In addition, windows will be added to the rear of the room. All surfaces and finishes will be new.
The courtroom will receive a full technology upgrade as well during the renovation. This will include dual digital projection for classroom and jury presentations, full multimedia equipment installation, three remote controlled pan and tilt cameras, and enhanced audio and visual recording and distribution capabilities.
