Government Bailouts Topic of Federalist Society Panel

Former presidential candidate Bob Barr will be among the participants for an upcoming panel discussion at Washington and Lee School of Law exploring government bailouts. The panel is scheduled for Thursday, March 26 at 11:45 a.m. in the Millhiser Moot Court Room of Sydney Lewis Hall.

The panel discussion, titled "Government Bailouts: Your Tax Dollars at Work," is free and open to the public.

This event promises to be an informative discussion of the pros and cons of the economic, legal and policy implications of the use of government funding to “bailout” private corporations.

Barr, who was the 2008 Libertarian Party presidential candidate and is a former republican congressman from Georgia, will be joined on the panel by Denny Garvis, professor of economics at Washington and Lee University. Lyman Johnson, W&L professor of law, will moderate the discussion.

A sandwich buffet lunch will be offered at 11:45 a.m., the panel discussion will be from 12-1 p.m. and a coffee and dessert reception will follow the panel.
