PILSA's Run for the Law 5K
Every year, PILSA puts on a 5K race to raise money for students who are working in public interest. These scholarships go to students working in public interest jobs, including legal aid, public defenders, non-profits, domestic clinics, and any sort of legal job that benefits those who are underrepresented in society. Because these positions are often unpaid, these scholarships allow the students to take an unpaid position and use the money to pay for their living expenses over the summer.
On average, around 100 law students and community members come out to the race. As part of their $15 (students) or $20 (faculty/staff/community members) registration, each runner receives a t-shirt. This year, there will be cash prizes and raffles from local businesses including Mano Taquiera, Blue Sky Bakery, Pure Eats, Devils Backbone, and Walkabout Outfitters. You may find a link to the Registration sheet here.
