Symantec Antivirus (SAV)

1. UNINSTALL your current anti-virus software!! SAV will not correctly install if it detects other anti-virus software.
    
2. Download Symantec Antivirus
   To download the antivirus client, you must use your novell username and password and select the correct program from the downloads page.
    
3. Update Symantec Antivirus
   1. Make sure Symantec Antivirus is running. Look for a gold shield in the task tray (lower right on desktop - near the clock). Right click on the shield, and make sure that  "Enable File System Realtime Protection" is checked.
   2. Select "Open Norton Antivirus". You should see the following screen.
      
      
      
       
   3. Make sure that the Virus Definition file is current (within a few days). You can also click on LiveUpdate to get the latest virus definition.
       
   4. Configure Automatic Updates
      1. File --> Schedule Updates
      2. Schedule --> Daily (pick a time you prefer)
      3. Advanced --> Handle Missed Event within 24 hours.
          
      4. Scan Your PC (If the program is still open, ignore steps 1 and 2)
         1. Start --> All Programs
         2. Symantec Client Security --> Symantec Antivirus Client
         3. Scan --> Scan Computer --> Select all local Drives --> Scan
