About

Tim Vest joined W&L Law in 2022. As Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration, he is responsible for the creation and management of the operating budget of the Law School, including oversight of capital and restricted accounts. In addition, he prepares financial and related reports for both internal and external offices and manages the reporting obligations to accrediting agencies and consumer rankings groups.

Prior to W&L Law, Vest worked at University of Richmond, where he was Senior Director of Academic Finance in the office of the Executive Vice President and Provost. He served as the as the chief budgetary officer and chief administrative liaison for the academic and academic-support units of the University, and the divisions of Student Development, Enrollment Management, and Policy & Planning. He provided strategic oversight of financial operations, including developing and analyzing operating budgets, maintaining and enhancing internal controls, and developing annual and multi-year financial reporting that supports strategic decision-making.

Prior to his tenure at Richmond, Vest served in a variety of institutional roles at Yale University, including the Associate University Budget Director, and as a divisional Director of Operations. During this time, he provided the executive leadership of Yale with financial counsel on three of its most significant strategic initiatives: the construction of two new residential colleges and 20% expansion of the Yale undergraduate class, the financial planning for Yale's 110-acre science campus, and the establishment of Yale-NUS College-a $1 billion joint venture between Yale University and the National University of Singapore, where he served as the inaugural Director of Finance.

Prior to his career in higher education, Vest worked in financial roles for Northeast Utilities, Inc., The Hartford Insurance Group, and Nordstrom, Inc. He received a bachelor's degree in finance from Central Connecticut State University and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.
