VTLF Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship

The Virginia Trial Lawyers Foundation (VTLF) announces Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship for 2025

The VTLF is pleased to announce its 2025 Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship. This scholarship program aims to introduce a diverse group of students to a career in trial practice and to our VTLA association family!
The scholarship is open to law students who (1) will have completed their second year (or equivalent) of law school; (2) exhibit a diversity of traits and attributes in age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic factors or national origin or demonstrate a commitment to fostering such diversity within the legal community; (3) demonstrate a strong interest in and/or commitment to the practice areas of VTLA members (plaintiff's civil actions, defense of criminal actions, family law, worker's compensation actions, and civil rights); and (4) demonstrate a commitment to social justice.

The scholarship includes an award of $5,000 to the selected student, plus the opportunity to work for a VTLA-member law firm for a 10-week period in the summer. This is a paid opportunity to work as a summer associate with experienced trial attorneys, attending depositions or other proceedings as appropriate, and getting exposure to trial practice while networking among active
trial lawyers. Up to two scholarships from Virginia law schools will be awarded.

Interested students should go to https://www.vtla.com/?pg=VTLFscholarship to further review scholarship details, eligibility, and details about the application. Applications are due no later than 5 pm on November 24, 2024. Selected students will be interviewed in December and scholarship winners will be notified in early January 2025.
