Federal Budget 2008On January 9, 2008, Office of Management and Budget Director Jim Nussle announced that the Budget of the United States Government would be released in a web-only format for Fiscal Year 2009 on February 4th, 2008. Mr. Nussle cited the cost savings of such a move as the reason for the discontinuance of paper copies of the Budget. GPO wishes to assure the members of the Federal Depository Library Program that we are committed to keeping the various Budget publications in printed format. To this end, OMB has agreed to provide GPO with files of the Budget documents that will be put to press for the purpose of dissemination to the public through the FDLP and Publication & Information Sales Program. We intend to ship these tangible copies of the Budget in conjunction with the February 4th internet release. Google Patent SearchGoogle Patent Search covers the entire collection of patents made available by the USPTO—from patents issued in the 1790s through those issued in the middle of 2006. They don’t currently include patent applications, international patents, or U.S. patents issued over the last few months,but plans arein place to expand coverage in the future. Changes to the Federal Rules of Civil ProcedureProposed Amendments Approved by Supreme Court (April 2007) - (Effective December 1, 2007) can be located at Rules. All documents are available in PDF format. Subscription Format ChangeAs of January 2008 the library's subscriptions to the following journals will change from paper to electronic format: Law and Philosophy, Law and Human Behavior, Law and Critique and International Journal for the Semiotics of Law. FTC Decisions OnlineThe Federal Trade Commission has digitized its decisions from 1969-2005, covering almost all administrative documents issued by the Commission, including Opinions, Final Orders, Complaints, and Consent Orders that result from negotiated consent agreements, as well as all Initial Decisions issued by Administrative Law Judges in administrative trial proceedings.The decisions are browsable by volume number and by party name, and they are also full-text searchable. The FTC also plans to add its earlier decisions (1914-1968) to the site eventually. Coverage of FTC decisions on Lexis and Westlaw currently goes back to 1949.The site can be accessed at FTC. 1.8 Million Pages of Federal Case Law Soon Freely AvailableWASHINGTON, D.C. / SEBASTOPOL, CA—November 14, 2007—Public.Resource.Org and Fastcase, Inc. announced today that they will release a large and free archive of federal case law, including all Courts of Appeals decisions from 1950 to the present and all Supreme Court decisions since 1754.
