Bar Preparation Program Excellence in teaching and personal attention distinguish this bar prep program from others.

W&L Law's bar prep programming includes academic courses throughout the entire three years of study. "Legal Writing," "Legal Method," and "Core Skills and Concepts," are classes that aid students not only with the bar but also with their internships and future careers.

Our commitment to our students does not end at graduation. Immediately following graduation, we provide expert individual tutoring and in-depth proprietary materials at no cost to our recent graduates during their bar study. Our bar prep programs have been highly successful. For instance:

  • From 2018-2021, W&L Law students achieved a 90.4% average first-time pass rate nationally. This figure is especially significant when considering that our graduates accept jobs all over the U.S.
  • On average, our graduating classes from 2018-2021 have taken the bar in 26 jurisdictions per year.
  • The Class of 2021 passed the Virginia Bar with a 92.6% rate for first time takers--this was the second highest pass rate from law schools in Virginia.

Excellence in teaching and personal attention for every student has always been distinguishing features of W&L Law. Because of the individual approach that W&L faculty and staff offer to our students, guidance is available for any bar exam in the nation. "We are committed to ensuring every one of our students is equipped to pass the bar exam of his or her choice, and we provide an unmatched degree of personal attention to help our students achieve this goal," Professor C. Reid Flinn said.
