Financial Literacy

Financing Your Legal Education

Financial literacy is extremely important for the success of our incoming and current students. The federal government provides valuable educational resources on graduate loans, including a loan simulator to help students estimate repayment amounts.

Additionally, W&L Law partners with AccessLex Institute's Ask Edna program, providing comprehensive financial education. Ask Edna offers resources on budgeting, debt management, financial planning, and understanding admissions and cost comparison worksheets.

We encourage applicants, admitted students, and current law students to take advantage of the free, one-on-one financial coaching offered through AccessLex.  Learn more here.

We also offer a W&L-specific Budget Worksheet to assist admitted students in managing their finances effectively.

Changes with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act has changed the landscape of financial aid for all college attendees. Loan limits and caps may impact the amount of federal loans you are eligible to receive. AccessLex is a great resource to explain the impact of the policies outlined in the bill and updates as they come from the hill. Comprehensive infromation, fact sheets, policy updates, and federal resources can be found on the Student Aid Policy and Action Center page.
