The Tax Clinic is a legal clinic at the Washington and Lee University School of Law.  We offer eligible low-income taxpayers free legal assistance with their federal tax problems.  Our students, under the supervision of Clinic Director Michelle Drumbl, help clients resolve tax problems and disputes with the Internal Revenue Service.  Each case is assigned to a student who will be responsible for all aspects of their client's representation—from the initial interview and intake, to case planning and research, to representation before the IRS or U.S. Tax Court.
 
The Tax Clinic is open year-round to help taxpayers with their needs. All services are provided free of charge, and all conversations are confidential.  The Tax Clinic can also assist taxpayers for whom English is a Second Language through the use of a translator.
