About

Professor Alexi Pfeffer-Gillett teaches Civil Procedure, Class Actions and Aggregate Litigation, and Consumer Protection Law. His research focuses on procedural means of combatting corporate and state-sanctioned abuses of consumers, employees, and other vulnerable groups. Professor Pfeffer-Gillett's recent scholarship has appeared or is forthcoming in the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, the Emory Law Journal, and the BYU Law Review. He has also filed amicus briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court, multiple federal appeals and district courts, and the Supreme Court of California.

Professor Pfeffer-Gillett joined the W&L Law faculty in 2023 after serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law. Before entering academia, he clerked for the Honorable Mary M. Schroeder on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and then practiced class-action securities law at Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, a plaintiff-side firm in San Diego.

Professor Pfeffer-Gillett earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he received the Thelen Marrin Prize for Law Journal Writing and served as Senior Articles Editor of the California Law Review. He also holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in public policy from Brown University.
