Graduation with Latin Honors

The candidate for a degree with Latin Honors must earn a grade‐point average, on all work attempted at the School of Law, sufficient to place the student in the top 30 percent of the class, with the honors awarded at the following more specific percentages.

  • Summa cum laude: top 3%
  • Magna cum laude: next 12%
  • Cum laude: next 15%

If any honor percentage cut‐off does not result in a whole number, then the faculty retains discretion to grant the honor to include the next student in numerical order of grade‐point average within that honor.
