 W&L Law encourages you to explore these, as well as other, sources of external funding to assist you in financing your legal education.

  • ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund - The Legal Opportunity Scholarship grants 20 incoming diverse law students with $15,000 of financial assistance over the course of their three years in law school.
  • American Accident Awareness Attorney (AAAA) by Naqvi Injury Law - Who is eligible: All students, graduate and undergraduate, who are enrolled in law related programs and have aspirations of becoming a lawyer are encouraged to apply. Application instructions: Applications must be submitted in full, online, by May 30 in order to be considered.
  • Adam Greenman Scholarship for future lawyers - Adam Greenman, a Portland-based personal injury, criminal defense, and DUI attorney, wants the smartest and most capable students to receive a quality legal education and enter the legal profession regardless of their economic situation. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a current or enrolled law student.
  • Adler Pollock & Sheehan Diversity Scholarship - The AP&S Diversity Scholarship, a $10,000 scholarship, will be awarded annually to a minority student entering his/her first year of law school. The scholarship is given to students with a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and simultaneous commitment to the community.
  • Adrian Altshuler's Annual Just Need A Chance Educational Scholarship -  The law offices of Adrian H. Altshuler & Associates are offering a $2,500 scholarship to a student pursuing a future in law.
  • Alabama Law Foundation: Cabaniss, Johnston Scholarship - The $5,000 Cabaniss, Johnston Scholarship's aim is to recognize and assist academically outstanding second-year law students who are also Alabama residents, and, further, to help promising law students become lawyers who will make a positive impact on society. A runner-up scholarship of $1,000 may be awarded at the selection committee's discretion.
  • Arent Fox Diversity Scholarship - The firm will award four second-year law students a $20,000 Scholarship. The $20,000 scholarship will be paid in two installments: $10,000 during the student's second-year summer and another $10,000 payable when the student returns to Arent Fox as an associate after graduation. Each of the firm's three offices - Washington, New York, Los Angeles - will host one of the recipients for the 2018 Summer Program.
  • Babcock Partners Law Student Scholarship - The Babcock Partners Law Student Scholarship is part of Babcock Partners commitment to helping those who demonstrate high academic achievement, exceptional leadership qualities and involvement with community service defray the costs of obtaining their legal education.
  • Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship - Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC will award three (3) scholarships to diverse law students this year. Each recipient will be awarded $10,000 which will be paid during the student's third year of law school to help defray the cost of law school tuition and related expenses.
  • BARBRI Law Preview - BARBRI Law Preview and the American Bar Association have partnered to offer one  hard-working incoming law student a $10,000 scholarship towards their 1L Year.
  • Belluck & Fox Mesothelioma Essay Contest - The scholarship money from the essay contest is one way the law firm encourages younger people to learn about the disease. The contest is also designed to generate enthusiasm by encouraging the public to support the entrants and their essays via Facebook. Through this outreach, our hope is that the contestants will spread the word about mesothelioma to family and friends, and expand the reach of mesothelioma awareness.
  • Benson & Bingham Annual Scholarship - Benson & Bingham is offering a $2,000 scholarship to an incoming law student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a winning essay about developments in technology and the law.
  • Billy Skinner Scholarship - Being an advocate of higher education, the Law Offices of Billy Skinner is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student who displays a passion for their continued education. This scholarship will be awarded once per semester.  Requirements:  Full-time enrollment at an accredited university; 3.0 GPA; 500 word essay; 30 second video.  Essays should explain why law is important to you and why it is your chosen major.  How to Apply:  Essays and videos can be submitted via email to scholarship@billyskinnerlaw.com by December 15 for the spring deadline and by July 31 for the fall deadline.
  • Boonswang Law Firm Scholarship - The Boonswang Law Firm is offering a $1,000 scholarship to any student that is studying to enter any facet of the legal profession. Requirements: Must be enrolled in law school; Must have a GPA of at least 3.25; Must attend college/university in the United States; Must be a legal resident of the United States: Must apply by July 31st deadline.
  • Brown, PC Scholarship - Brown, PC is now accepting applications for the firm's National Tax Law Scholarship, a $500 stipend which will be awarded to a second or third year U.S. law student with a demonstrated interest in tax law.
  • Brown, PC Scholarship - Brown, PC is now accepting applications for the firm's National Business Law Scholarship, a $500 stipend which will be awarded to a second or third year U.S. law student with a demonstrated interest in business law.
  • Cancer Horizons College Scholarship - Cancer Horizons is striving to empowering cancer patients by helping someone fulfill their dream of a college education by providing financial assistance. This $1,000 scholarship is intended to support one hard working, high achieving college student (including graduate students) who lives with cancer.
  • Chapman LLC Law Scholarship - The investment fraud lawyers at Chapman LLC are granting a $1,000 scholarship to a student planning to attend or currently attending an accredited law school in the U.S.
  • Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick's Child of Diabled Veteran Scholarship - The law firm of Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD awards a $1,000 Child of a Disabled Veteran Scholarship each year to one deserving applicant whose parent has a service-connected disability.
  • Christopher Simon Attorney At Law Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship is reserved for one incoming 1L or a currently enrolled Law Student for the Fall 2018 Semester.
  • Consumer Action Law Group Scholarship - The CAL Group Scholarship for 2018 will be in the amount of $500 for 3 different recipients. Applicants must write a 750-1000 word essay.
  • David Gordon Scholarship - The Memphis-based Law Office of David E. Gordon is offering two scholarships worth a combined $1,500 to current and prospective U.S. college students who write winning essays or submit winning videos in the Scholarship Essay & Video Contest.
  • Davis Wright Tremaine 1L Diversity Scholarship Program - Davis Wright Tremaine has a successful diversity scholarship program for first-year associates in our Seattle and Portland offices. The scholarships are open to all first-year law students of color, or others of diverse backgrounds, who: Have a record of academic achievement in both undergraduate school and the first year of law school which demonstrates promise for a successful career in law, and Are committed to civic involvement that promotes diversity and will continue that commitment upon entering the legal profession, and Will commit to becoming a summer associate in our Seattle or Portland office between the first and second years of law school.
  • Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship for Law Students - This scholarship is part of Banner & Witcoff's commitment to fostering the development of intellectual property lawyers from diverse backgrounds. Law students who meet the selection criteria and have entered into a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school in the United States are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applicants may not be a current or past employee of Banner & Witcoff, or directly related to a current employee of Banner & Witcoff.
  • Donald Memorial Legal Scholarship - The Donald Memorial Legal Scholarship was established by Houston criminal defense attorney Lisa Shapiro Strauss in honor of her late grandfather, Martin Donald. A $2,000 award will be given to one winning student. Requirements: Any student pursuing a college education in criminal justice law; Must have a minimum a 3.0 GPA.
  • DRI Law Student Diversity Scholarship - The Law Student Diversity Scholarship program is open to incoming second and third-year African American, Hispanic, Asian, Pan Asian, and Native American students.
  • Earl Warren Scholarships - In honor of his memory, the Earl Warren Scholarship is awarded annually to rising law students whose commitment to social justice reveals outstanding potential for training as civil rights and public interest attorneys. Preference is generally given to law students entering their first year of full-time legal study at an accredited law school.
  • Empowering Women in Law Scholarship - This $1,500 scholarship opportunity is open to women nationwide who are currently attending a law school in the United States. This scholarship is intended to encourage & support outstanding achievement & leadership by example from women in the field of law.

  • Finnegan, Henderson Diversity Scholarship - The Finnegan Henderson Diversity Scholarship is open to persons of a minority heritage attending top law schools around the nation with a demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in intellectual property law. Each scholar is given $15,000 per year for tuition and other law school fees.
  • Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Minority Scholarship Program - The Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Minority Scholarship Program sponsors educational opportunities for currently enrolled, first-year law students of diverse backgrounds. The Foundation offers one award of $10,000.
  • Gainsburg Law Scholarship - Gainsberg Law is proud to offer an annual $2,500 scholarship opportunity students interested in pursuing law.
  • Goldenburg Law Scholarship - This scholarship of $1,000 will be awared to a student who is committed to indigent defense work and has some financial need.
  • Goodman Acker Law School Scholarship - This scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a student who has achieved high academic achievement, submitted an original essay, and is currently attending or has been accepted to an accredited law school in the United States
  • Goodwin Public Interest Fellowships for Law Students of Color - The Goodwin 1L Diversity Fellowships provide first-year law students from underrepresented backgrounds with awards of $10,000 each, to help cover expenses while working in a public interest law position during the summer after their first year of law school.A guaranteed callback interview with a Goodwin office of their choice during the interview season after the student's first year of law school.As part of the callback interview process, fellows students are considered for the Wayne A. Budd and Marian A. Tse Diversity Scholarships, providing selected recipients with a paid 2L summer position in one of Goodwin's offices during the 2018 summer associate program and an additional $10,000 toward tuition for the third year of law school.
  • Guldjian Law Diversity Scholarship - Guldjian Law offers a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student who embraces diversity. Open to both undergraduate and graduate students for the 2017-18 school year. Application includes a short essay.
  • Harris Lowry Manton LLP Academic Scholarship - This $5,000 award will be given to any law student who is either currently enrolled, or who will be enrolled, in an accredited college or university for the Fall semester of the upcoming academic year.
  • Hosting Step Scholarship - The hosting step scholarship grants $1,000 and a web hosting account for one year to help a student in their academic projects. 
  • Howard Fox Memorial Law Scholarship Application - The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships to deserving Berks County residents entering their second year at an accredited law school, who demonstrate financial need, without discrimination to color, race, national origin, or religion. No descendants of Leonard Quittner or M. Robert Ullman may be scholarship recipients.
  • Humane Studies Fellowship - The Institute for Humane Studies awards scholarships up to $15,000 for undergraduate or graduate study in the United States or abroad. Last year IHS awarded 180 scholarships to outstanding undergraduate, graduate, law, and professional students who are exploring the principles, practices, and institutions necessary to a free society through their academic work. Select winners and finalists are invited to present and discuss their research at the annual Humane Studies Research Colloquium.
  • Iranian Bar Association Scholarship - IABA Foundation grants one or more scholarships each year to law students who have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of the Iranian-American community. Applicants must be of Iranian heritage and full-time students at an accredited law school (applications from UCI School of Law will be accepted) in the United States who are not otherwise receiving full educational funding from another organization.
  • James N. Kincanon Scholarship - The James N. Kincanon Scholarship was established by the Roanoke Bar Association Foundation in 1997 in honor of James N. Kincanon, Esq., in recognition of his fifty years of service as Secretary-Treasurer of the RBA. The scholarship is available to students who demonstrate diligence in and commitment to their studies, academic excellence and an interest in the pursuit of law. Applicants must be a resident of the City of Roanoke, the City of Salem, or the County of Roanoke, or a graduate of a high school located in those jurisdictions.   • Jan Jancin Competition - The Jan Jancin Competition includes two separate awards offered to law students nominated by their schools who have excelled in the study of intellectual property law. The first award is the Jan Jancin Award, which includes a cash award of $5,000. The second award has been established by the Past Presidents of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and awards up to a maximum of a $2,500 cash award.

  • John Foy & Associates Strong Arm Leukemia Scholarship - The John Foy & Associates "Strong Arm" Leukemia Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to one college student who has battled leukemia or whose life has been affected by it.
  • Judge John R. Brown Scholarship Foundation: Brown Award for Excellence in Legal Writing - Any law student currently enrolled in an accredited law school in the United States seeking a J.D. or LL.B. degree is eligible to receive an award ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Four copies of a current legal writing must be submitted to the Foundation c/o Kenneth G. Engerrand, Brown Sims, P.C., Tenth Floor, 1177 West Loop South, Houston, Texas 77027-9007 with a letter of recommendation by a law school faculty member or legal professional other than the author of the paper. 
  • Juvenile Justice Law School Scholarship - We are committed to juvenile justice and want to encourage young people to pursue a career in law and hopefully make a difference to someone in their careers. We have discovered that nothing matters more in the early life of a youth charged with a crime than lawyers, legal professionals, and judges who are committed to defending the rights of the youth.Our law firm is offering the Juvenile Justice Scholarship to encourage and assist students with attending law school with an interest in juvenile justice, as well as raise awareness of the issue of prison sentences and reduced rights for minors.
  • Korean American Scholarship Foundation - Variety of scholarships are awarded to graduate and undergraduate students with a Korean Heritage.
  • Ladah Law Firm Personal Injury Scholarship - Ladah Law Firm is pleased to offer a $2,000 scholarship to a deserving law student. Applicants will be required to demonstrate the following: 1. How an injury you or someone close to you experienced has impacted your life; 2. How your experience with an injury or an accident has contributed to your desire and motivation to become an attorney; and 3. Personal commitment to working with, helping, or caring for those affected by injuries and accidents.
  • Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association - The committee considers factors including, but not limited to, the applicant's: demonstrated commitment to and interest in pro bono, public interest and/or public service legal work in Clark County, Nevada; financial need; leadership potential maturity and responsibility; and commitment to serving the needs of the African American community in Clark County, Nevada.
  • Lamber Goodnow Law Team scholarship - This $1,000 law school scholarship is offered by the Lamber Goodnow law team. 
  • Latham Diversity Scholars Program - The 2L Diversity Scholars Program awards select second-year law school students a scholarship of $25,000 (less applicable taxes and withholdings). The first $10,000 of the scholarship will be paid upon starting as a summer associate at Latham & Watkins, and the balance of $15,000 will be paid upon starting as a full-time associate at the firm. As a 2L Diversity Scholar, you will also receive valuable networking, training and mentoring opportunities.
  • Law Offices of Randy Collins Scholarship - A $1,000 scholarship awarded to one student every year from the law offices of Randy Collins. 
  • Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys in Law and Business Scholarship - The Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys in Law and Business seeks to assist women of color attorneys in law firms and legal departments develop the skills necessary to become partners and leaders in the legal profession. Applicants must have completed one year of law school at an accredited law school in the U.S. in good standing; be U.S. citizens; have a GPA of at least 2.5; complete application and send transcript; and have demonstrated a commitment to the profession.
  • Leukemia & Lymphoma Awareness Law School Scholarship - The Law Office of Renkin & Associates is pleased to announce the creation of a Scholarship offer. It was established to provide financial support to a law student whose life has been impacted by Lymphoma or Leukemia and is seeking to continue their education through law schoolThis scholarship was established to provide financial support to a law student whose life has been impacted by lymphoma or leukemia and is seeking to continue one's education through law school.The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who submits the required application and essay by the deadline.
  • Lemberg Law "Land of Opportunity" Law School Scholarship - Lemberg Law has launched the "Land of Opportunity" $1,250 Law School Scholarship. This scholarship is open to current or incoming law school students who are immigrants to the U.S. and who are U.S. citizens, DACA recipients, or legal permanent residents.
  • Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship - The LMJ Scholarship program seeks to nurture the academic and professional careers of outstanding law students and advancing the diversity pipeline to the legal profession. The LMJ Scholarship Program provides $10,000 to incoming first-year law students pursuing a juris doctorate degree.
  • Loch Law Scholarship Program -The Loch Law Scholarship Program is designed to help young minds fulfill their dream of pursuing law school course. The $500 Scholarship is open to all students across the world, who are 18+ years of age and are enrolled in any School/College/University.
  • Los Angeles DUI Attorney Diabetes Scholarship - Our $1,000 Scholarship will be awarded to both undergraduate and graduate students who have been diagnosed with any type of diabetes and carry a 3.0 GPA.
  • Marilynne Graboys Wool Scholarship - This scholarship is open to female applicants from Rhode Island who can demonstrate financial need and who seek to earn a law degree.
  • Mark T. Banner Scholarship for Law Students - Law students who have entered into a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school in the United States and who will continue in that program through the fall semester 2016 are eligible to apply for the Mark T. Banner Scholarship.
  • Max McElhaney Memorial Educational Scholarship - This $2,500 was created in 2014 as an act of love by firm founder Rocky McElhaney, to honor and celebrate the life of his Uncle Max. The annual scholarship award is designed to help students reach their goals and achieve their dreams when it comes to their educations.
  • McGuire Woods Diversity Initiative - As a part of its 1L Diversity Scholarship program, the firm choses outstanding first-year law students to each receive a $5,000 award. The program recognizes students who have shown a commitment to contributing to and supporting diversity within the legal profession. Each scholarship will be sent directly to the candidate's law school in payment of tuition and books.
  • Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund Law School Scholarship - MALDEF's Law School Scholarship Program is open to all law students currently enrolled at an accredited United States law school. Applicants are evaluated for their academic and extracurricular achievements, for their background and financial need, and, most importantly, for their demonstrated commitment to advancing Latino civil rights in their careers.
  • Moses & Rooth Legal Scholarship - Moses and Rooth Attorneys at Law, a Criminal Defense Law Firm located in Orlando, Florida is offering a $1,000 scholarship to one incoming 1L or currently enrolled Law Student. 
  • Nelson Mullins - $10,000 and a salaried summer associate position offered to qualified 2L students. Visit the firm website for more details.

  • Open Education Database - Open Education Database has several scholarships for women pursuing university degrees across different interest areas. Eligibility varies per scholarship.
  • Patterson Law Group - Patterson Law Group is offering a $1,939 financial aid scholarship (#ArriveAlive TX Scholarship) to a student who creates a realistic distracted driving awareness campaign.
  • Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans - These fellowships support individuals for up to two years of graduate study anywhere in the United States. Candidates must be either holders of Green Cards, naturalized citizens, or children of two naturalized citizen parents.
  • Paulson & Nace, PLLC Scholarship - A $5,000 scholarship awarded annually to a deserving law student who believes that "justice for all" is a pledge we make to one another. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who wants to pursue a career in the legal system and will use their degree to change the world every day.  
  • Peck Law Firm Scholarship - A $2,000 scholarship awarded to a deserving student who is pursuing law school. 
  • Pew Law Center Scholarship - A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a deserving student currently enrolled or attending an accredited law school. Appplication includes submitting an essay about the current state of student debt.
  • Plattner Verderame Civil Justice Scholarship - Plattner Verderame, P.C. is pleased to offer a $2,500 annual scholarship for a student interested in any aspect of social or civil justice.
  • Plaxen and Adler Scholarship - A private $2,500 award granted annually to a law student who demonstrates an interest in civil trial advocacy and a career as a civil trial lawyer.
  • Richard S. White Fellowship - The Richard S. White Fellowship includes both a paid, 12 week summer associate position and a $7,500 academic scholarship to be remitted directly to the student's law school at the beginning of the school year following the summer clerkship to assist in paying the student's tuition.
  • Robert Hamparyan Injury Scholarship - Hamparyan Injury Lawyers believe that every student is entitled to higher education, and it should never be strangled by financial means. The law firm is offering a bi-annual scholarship for $1000 to a deserving student. 
  • Rosen & Ohr Scholarship Program - Rosen & Ohr is accepting essays from students who have suffered injuries due to an accident or who have been impacted personally by a loved one's accident. Three scholarships will be awarded; $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place, and $500 for third place.
  • Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Scholarships - Sponsored by the AIPLEF, this $10,000 scholarship addresses the need to increase the number of minority intellectual property attorneys and to bring these attorneys to the attention of firms and corporations as candidates for employment.
  • Tad Nelson Scholarship - $500 scholarship Made possible by donations from the Houston Criminal Defense Attorneys at The Law Office of Tad Nelson & Associates.
  • The Annual Victim Advocate Scholarship - The Taylor & Ring Victim Advocate Scholarship is a $5,000 award given to a student interested in pursuing the study of law with a specific goal of helping survivors of sexual assault, rape, child abuse, or sexual harassment in the workplace.
  • The Ascent Law Scholarship Program - This $1,000 scholarship is available to all college students or law students who are currently admitted to and attending an undergraduate degree program at an accredited American university or college or are admitted to and attending a state accredited law school.
  • The Bellotti Law Group, P.C. Scholarship - The Bellotti Law Group is offering a scholarship of $1,000 to be awarded to an undergraduate or law student who is committed to improving access to legal services for individuals in need.
  • The CPW Law Legal Scholarship - The CPW Law Legal Scholarship awards $3000 to a 1st year law student who has demonstrated an interest in a career as a trial lawyer and has a passion for representing injured individuals whose rights have been jeopardized. The scholarship is available to all 1st year students currently enrolled at an accredited law school who can demonstrate financial need in the form of government-sponsored student loans, who have exemplified exceptional skills as orators and who consider helping those less fortunate a calling that they wish to answer.
  • The Federal Circuit Bar Association: Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Scholarship - This award seeks a law student showing financial need and demonstrated academic promise, either in undergraduate studies or in law school, and an interest in an area of the law within the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
  • The Federal Circuit Bar Association: William S. Bullinger Scholarship - Awarded in memory of William Bullinger, this scholarship is based primarily on financial need.
  • The Fitch Law Firm, LLC Scholarship - The Fitch Law Firm is offering a $2,500 scholarship.  Applicants must write a 1000-1500 word opinion piece about a particular Ohio law. 
  • The Randall Blair Isenberg Alcohol Addiction Awareness ScholarshipOne college student with a demonstrable passion for raising alcohol awareness in their community will be awarded $500 toward their education.
  • The Reyna Injury Lawyers Bi-Annual Scholarship - The Reyna Injury Lawyers are offering a bi-annual scholarship. The amount of $1,000 is awarded to a hard-working student with a winning essay who is enrolled in a University or Community College.
  • The Tilem & Associates, P.C. Scholarship - Tilem & Associates, P.C. is offering a scholarship of $1,000 to be awarded to an undergraduate or law student who is determined about addressing the strengths and weaknesses of the U.S. criminal justice system.
  • Timothy J. Ryan & Associates Scholarship - Timothy J. Ryan law firm is offering a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be currently enrolled or attending a law school or university and must write a 1,000 - 5,000 word essay on a personal injury topic.
  • TonaLaw - TonaLaw is offering a $1,000 semi-annual scholarship to veterans who are going back to school.
  • Virginia Beach Bar Foundation Grants - The Virginia Beach Bar Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established as a vehicle for lawyers and other interested citizens to make charitable contributions for the tangible, meaningful benefit of persons and organizations located within the City of Virginia Beach and in the furtherance of justice and legal education. One of the purposes of the VBBF is to fund a broad spectrum of programs which benefit the Virginia Beach community, consistent with the Foundation's mission.
  • Wallin & Klarich Scholarship - This $2,500 scholarship is awarded to an entering first-year law school student who overcame obstacles to be admitted and now faces financial burden associated with receiving a degree. Successful applicant must be interested in practicing criminal justice in the future.
  • Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer Family Law Scholarship - Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer is offering a $1,000 scholarship for an incoming or enrolled law student with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a winning 600-word essay on the topic of domestic abuse.
  • Yeboah Law Group Scholarship - Yeboah Law Group is proud to offer the first annual Make a Difference Scholarship for $3000 to students throughout the country who truly want to be the change they wish to see.
